Interactive Timelines on the Web

While searching the internet for interactive timelines, it became apparent that if our National Service PRP wants to build a website with an interactive timeline, we are going to need technical help.

One idea is to approach the Computer Science department at UT, and see if we can work with a student who is working in Flash to see if we can team up to create an interactive timeline on national service.

Here are some interactive timelines we could look to as models:

LR>>On interactive timelines...

Let's not worry too much about the technical aspects of the interactive timelines right now.

It's more imporant to understand that each timeline is trying to convey a message through the way to presents information. You want to consider how information is titled and organized;if it has an underlying message about what's important/significant; and, whether the site/timeline leaves the intended impression on the user/reader.

What would we want a person thinking about after they've spent time exploring our timeline? I hope they' would have learned something new and started to think differently about challenges and prospects for national service.
